AYURVEDA SECTION IN THE HOSPITAL
Ayurveda (Panchkarma) facilities are newly developed. It has been great boon for people from this region as they have to work hard in hilly terrain and face lot of joint pain in old age. The hospital is endowed with a good ayurvedic unit with three massage machines - one machine for massage, one for acupressure of the hands and one for leg therapy. All these machines are working continuously six days per week. Western devotees visiting the ashram can also enjoy the benefits of an ayurvedic massage given by modern machines.
Every year in September Swamiji prepares natural pure chyavanaprash (a mixture herbal medicine for total health of body). Natural herbs like gooseberry jagiri and roots of Himalayan ayurvedic plants are used and prepared in a natural and direct method. It is then distributed to monks and elderly people of Uttarkashi, as Chyavanaprash is helpful to build up strength and resistance in the body for the next five months (nov-march) of Himalayan cold weather. .
